RPA platform legacy modernization & migration

User-side problems:

  • Cross-platform toolkit to develop the automations
  • Version management and distribution of activities
  • Testing capabilities 
• We made it simpler to upgrade the customer:
  • Health checks for both pre- and post-installation validation
  • New installer to support partial installation and upgrade

The product is an RPA solution that provides both automation and additional, optional guidance for employees. Its peculiarity is the AI module that enables better productivity and accuracy, also eliminating potential errors.

Let’s say, the customer is using Excel spreadsheets to create monthly invoices:

1. When the web application is opened, it triggers the guide 
   • The user is offered additional assistance
   • The robot then indicates every step to create an invoice
2. When the new invoice is created, it triggers the automation
   • The user is asked if they would prefer to fill the fields by themselves or automatically
   • The robot then loads order details from the Excel sheet 
3. When done, the user is instructed to save and send the invoice
4. In parallel, the sensors are monitoring on-screen activity to ensure business rules are followed

Backward compatibility

With every new change, we focused on maintaining backward compatibility to ensure seamless functionality. 

We decided on using:

• Fallback options
• Custom tools for migration

Citrix integration

The product was required to support a reliable bi-directional communication for several virtualization scenarios. To resolve this problem, we implemented the independent computing architecture (a remote display protocol).

Browser extension

When Google suddenly announced a deadline to retire Manifest 2 – which supported browser automations – we confronted the challenge of migrating to modern Manifest 3, whose rules were limiting several capabilities.

In only six months:

• We assisted the client’s technical support to upgrade enterprise customers 
• And ensured the product remained intact

Product installation

The installer was outdated and required a complete file install and uninstall to upgrade enterprise customers. To resolve this problem, we migrated and introduced partial installation.
