On August 8th, 2017 Abto Software announces its strategic partnership with an Israel-based startup, WeGoVision to develop what-could-be world’s most advanced wearable assistive technology for visually impaired people. Nowadays, most of the solutions for navigation assistance are based on the Global Positioning System (GPS). A new wearable solution will be using a combination of computer vision, machine learning, and audio cues to help the user navigate without the help of a sighted companion.
The World Health Organization estimates there are about 314 million vision impaired people in the world, about 45 million of whom are blind. Unlike others, this new type of a product will adapt to individual users’ experiences, modifying the guidance it provides, as the machine ‘learns’ from its landscape and from the human interaction. This data would be detected by the device camera and used to identify the objects as the user moves around the space.
“Although there are many visual aids available, from a guide stick, guide dog to wearable camera, having to navigate in the house, go up and down the stairs, and cross the street are tasks that still pose great challenges to blind and visually impaired people – even in the world’s largest cities. Partnership with Abto software ultimately will enable blind and visually impaired people to regain their independence.”, said Izidor Gershkovich, CEO of WeGoVision Ltd., an Israeli company that develops a wearable embedded guiding product for the blind and visually impaired for worldwide use, based on the Computer Vision technology.
“Creating a better future has always been a main driving force for us here, at Abto Software. We are very much excited about the partnership with WeGoVsion, and this great opportunity to apply our 5-year computer vision and machine learning experience in this remarkable visual assistance project. I am confident that together we will make a real difference in people’s everyday lives.”, said Yuriy Kapkovskyy, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, Co-Owner at Abto Software.
WeGoVision is an Israel-based startup that aims to develop a product for visual assistance named “GoFreedom” that will help visually impaired people walk safely and independently. This innovative product will utilize latest technologies in the field of computer vision and machine learning to give “sight” to the blind.
